as the legal marijuana train stokes it’s long silent engines and prepares to barrel across the country with it’s vision of hope and a virgin industry born.
A vibrant gathering recently took place at the swanky address of the Washington Athletic Club in downtown Seattle. The mayor was grinning from ear to ear as entrepreneurs from California to Europe joined the local personalities of the cannabis community; forming a bond of leadership that is unprecedented.
The National Cannabis Industry Association hosted this media filled event with the obvious goal to raise membership and the more admirable goal of bringing together connections in a culture that is not used to the spotlight being shed upon them with such positive brightness.
Move over ‘Labowski’ image, there’s a new game in town. And that game is well funded and looking for ideas to back.
I talked to the inventor of a cannabis aromatherapy relaxation aid dubbed ‘AromaChill’. No smoking involved; you simply cuddle up to this plushly wrapped devise and breath in the cool fresh scent of marijuana or any herb of choice. The idea of relaxing sleep is near and dear to many hearts including mine. What if it works?
Aimee Warner was there seeking an angel to back a lab so she can introduce her lovely line of cannabis body care products into main stream markets. Again, no getting ‘stoned’ to benefit from the healing powers of cannabis.
There was a guy with a huge (I mean really big) cigar shaped device that vaporizes the active ingredients of cannabis for inhalation without burning the leaf matter and another with a slim pencil shaped design that does the same thing with the oils from marijuana. That’ll getcha higher than a kite!
But wait! Hold off on clearing the garden for cannabis cultivation. The investors from the featured investment group, The ArcView Group, don’t want to get their fingers sticky from the forbidden flower. No, no – they are seeking to back the business’ that support the industry but don’t actual deal with the Cannabis Sativa L. plant.
The raw fact at the raged edges of this new industry is that you can still go to federal prison for marijuana related activities.
Adults over 21 in WA and CO can legally walk around with an ounce of joints rolled up in their sleeve like an over stuffed pack of Camels but they can’t yet buy it legally to date.
You can use it as a medical marijuana patient but you can’t get an organ transplant in Seattle if you do. You could juice it for super food but can’t find the raw ingredient to do so. Eating the fertile seeds for a protein boost is great but you can only get them from another country.
So, no money for the pioneers who actually grow, process and distribute the plant for recreational nor medical uses.
It’s as if the ‘Reefer Elves’ sprinkle big fatty buds, pungent with terpenes and psychoactive compounds, down upon us with no regard for laws of man. It just shows up……
If your entrepreneurial spirit is joansin’ for expansion into the cannabis market, think inventory management software, cultivation devises or services such as web design accounting, insurance, marketing, etc. Think about all the services any other industry uses to be supportive and there is a vacuum of need in the almost ready to boil cannabis industry.
The idea of a brand new industry forming around an ancient herb is so very exciting to me that I hardly slept last night; wishing I had that AromaChill thingy handy.
The game board is large and full of pot holes but for those with the balls willing to roll the dice, the payoff of a better world is the brass ring. Want to go for a wild ride; the train is about to leave the station.
Get on it!
Peace and Prosperity,
